With luxurious chairs and delicious drinks it's the spot to take someone to spoil them. On their menu Bar Petite offer a whole roasted capsicum, a fresh salad, dips with bread, rosemary flatbread and sweet potato chips (without the aioli) double check with staff for any animal products in these menu items. Coco Monde $$ - Darby Street, Cooks Hill. This chocolate cafe has a few vegan options for savory eaters and a number of fantastic vegan desserts. These include their whole food slice, and whole food crepes served with dark chocolate sauce and raspberry sorbet. The dark chocolates are vegan, and staff will make you a very decadent dark chocolate hot chocolate. This is a spot for true sugar and chocolate lovers. Greenroof $ - Tudor Street, Hamilton. This trendy pub in Hamilton has a few yummy vegan options on the menu to tempt you while you enjoy a Young Henry's beer or cocktail from the menu. The huge bowl of sweet potato fries with guacamole are a favourite at $5. The roasted field mushroom (ask for it vegan) and rice salad can be combined for a healthier option.
Nagisa $$$ - This modern fusion Japanese restaurant on the harbour at Honeysuckle has always had some great options for vegans, but they have recently upped their game dramatically, offering lots of vegan and veganizable options. Make sure to let the staff know that you are dairy and egg free, as a couple of the veg options are not vegan. Options include edamame, boiled green beans with assorted salty toppings, panko crumbed eggplant (ask for no egg), chilled firm tofu topped with shaved vegetables served with spicy yuzu and chilli paste, goma spinach with soy dressing, green salad with ponzu dressing, Teriyaki tofu steak (ask for no butter), vegetable sushi roll, inari nigiri, and there are also a number of dessert options including the Taro Popsicle and vegan sorbets with a Japanese twist.
Napoli Centrale $$ - King Street, Newcastle. This authentic Neapolitan pizza joint will do you a cheese-free pizza that will blow your socks off. They use huge chunks of artichoke, beautiful roasted eggplant and fresh tomatoes. Their standard menu item “Marinara” pizza is delightfully simple too. Though the staff will ask you if you’re sure you want it, and will remind you it doesn't come with seafood on it. Be sure to call and book ahead - they book out frequently. Open for lunch and dinner.
