Year 12 Visual Design Homewares UnitAn example of works that can be created for a Year 12 Visual Design unit on Homewares. Using porcelain or stoneware clays, under glaze and glaze students create their own unique set of homewares inspired by the work of a fine artist. These particular works draw inspiration from Yayoi Kasuma.

Life drawing with analogous colour schemes
Life drawing with analogous colour schemesIn this lesson there were three areas set up with three different still life scenes in the classroom. Students were split into three groups, and moved around the room as they completed each exercise. They first did a warm up single line drawing in pencil for 10 minutes. Their second drawing was also in pencil and they were given time to focus on shadows and create contrast for 20 minutes. For the third drawing I gave each group a container of analogous oil crayon colours to create their drawings. They had to sketch outlines in one colour then focus on illustrating the shapes and demonstrating a little tone in their designs. Students had 30 minutes for this task.
