If you're on the hunt for an incredible vegan dinner in a beautiful setting, look no further than The Basement on Market's six course vegan degustation, or vegustation if you will, regular event showcasing their chef's brilliant talent for plant based food.
All you need for a great night out here is a couple of well paired cocktails and a group of good mates at this centrally located bar. Expect meals plated in colourful arrangements and exciting flavour combinations.
Our meal started with a crunch. The crisp fried fried potatoes were light and fluffy in the centre and served with a creamy jalepeno sauce.
Next came fresh Vietnamese inspired rice paper rolls filled with assorted mushrooms and the most delicious yuzu dressing, a punchy citrus floral flavour.
Following was a knockout dish favoured by many around the table. This dish was a combination of fresh, earthy and grassy flavours with beetroot, zucchini and broccoli accompanied by a divine confit garlic and green cashew cheese
Fifth course and the last of our savoury dishes was a rich green curry and tomato stew served on a bed of chard and coriander dip puree, we cleaned our plates with the fragrant warm pita.
The meal finished with a classic Eton Mess piled up with fresh berries and a creamy coconut ice cream.
The next vegustation nights are coming up on July 2, September 3 and November 5. Check The Basement on Market St's Instagram for details.
