Since opening The Family has been rocking some tasty vegan options on their menu, and with every new menu release, there is more and more to love!
This awesome anti-pokie and pro-dog friendly pub has to be one of our favourite spots in Newcastle to grab a beer and a tasty meal. The venue itself has a relaxed vibe and doesn't take itself too seriously; doggos are at dinner, a portrait of Drop Dead Fred is the centrepiece of the dining room and the service is always with a joke or smile. Not only is a great spot to catch up with a mate over a few afternoon beers and pool or party up late with friends, but The Family Hotel also wears its values on its sleeve, supporting the local community and organizations like Newcastle Dog Rescue.
There’s something for everyone on the menu. They haven't ditched our pub classic favourite - the insanely delicious eggplant parma is still a menu highlight - now joined by a mix of fresh and flavorful new friends!
The menu upgrade includes lots of great new vegan options including new starters. The vegan guilty pleasures include deep fried pickles, now served with a spicy hommus, and crispy onion rings.
Feeling a bit more peckish? Chow down on a loaded jackfruit burger with fresh slaw and fries, keep it fresh with a choice of powerhouse superfood salads and try not to make a mess with the spicy tofu tacos.
One of the trickier things to get your hands (mouth) on in Newcastle is a decadent vegan dessert. Not just a scoop or gelato, or a raw cheesecake, actual indulgent dessert. Here's where The Family Hotel don't mess around! They're not doing some fancy pants deconstructed dish, they're just serving up tasty AF ways to polish off a good pub feed.
Their vegan desserts consist of two killer options. Chocoholics will love the rich chocolate brownie with ice cream, fudgey and creamy, it's pretty great for sharing if your eyes are often bigger than your tum. Feeling like something fruitier? Pineapple fritters are coated in a crispy batter, sprinkled with coconut and served up with a scoop as well!
