In the short six months since opening Bonta Vera has become the go-to location for Novacastrians wanting a truly indulgent vegan experience. Set in the historic Minmi Courthouse Bonta Vera doesn't just serve up incredible burgers, but is a beautiful destination to check out at breakfast or lunch with some great little pockets that become prime position depending on the weather.
Milkshakes on the verandah are a must on a warm sunny day, in winter the cozy L shaped couch by the fire becomes poll position for breakfast diners, and having your food delivered to you as you sit under the gum trees in the beautiful garden is pure luxury.
Owner John's ethos is based around demonstrating to punters that everyone can indulge in all their favourite foods, like a British fry-up, without harming animals. He searches for and uses a wide range of vegan alternative products to create food that has many a happy omnivore leaving the restaurant.
In addition to his creative, rich and tasty savoury items John has also become well known for his vegan cheesecakes, and other vegan desserts with the help of his dessert queen Lou. Every week the Bonta Vera kitchen pumps out numerous vegan cheesecakes, in a multitude of flavours. These cheesecakes are also available to order. For sweet tooths there is also donuts, freakshakes, brownies, cookies, muffins and much, much more to check out in their sweets cabinet on a regular basis.
