Seed Cafe, located inside Hunter Organics at The Junction, is a favourite spot amongst Novocastrian vegans and especially those with food intolerances. The chef, Jay, is known for keeping little notes of regular customer's various intolerances in little notes posted in the kitchen.
Seed Cafe has a great range of vegan options at breakfast and lunch time, many dishes can be altered easily by letting staff know you'd like the option made vegan. Egg noodles are replaced by rice noodles, and yoghurt replaced by coyo.
Breakfast options include the generous and rich vegan buckwheat pancakes served with coyo, a bright and tasty tofu and one of the biggest vegan breakfast plates going.
At lunch time expect hearty, healthy options like the very popular beet and quinoa burger, satay tofu salad, curries and soups. There's always a vegan special on the board.
For afternoon or morning tea Seed Cafe is a treat! Look in the cabinet for raw vegan sweets including the lime and kiwi cheesecake, chocolate caramel slice, orange and chocolate slice, and our favourite the rich tahini chocolate slice. Expect some fantastic allergenic conscious baked good as well, like the newly added gluten free, refined sugar free baked donuts.
